How are the Oyen Pet Wellness Plans different for pets of varying ages, like puppies/kittens, adults, and senior pets?

The Oyen Preventive Care Plan has been updated to the Oyen Pet Wellness plan as of 3 October 2023.

If you purchased the Oyen Preventive Care Plan prior to 3 October 2023, the details & benefits of your plan will be slightly different than the following.

Great question! The needs of pets significantly depends on their age. Here's a general breakdown of how a wellness plan might differ for pets of varying age.

Puppies/Kittens:

1. Vaccinations: Young pets typically require a series of vaccinations to protect them from various diseases. This may include shots for rabies, parvovirus, canine distemper, feline leukaemia, etc. 
2. Deworming: Puppies and kittens are often more susceptible to worms, practising regular deworming is essential.

Since kittens are more vulnerable and require more preventive care, it's recommended that you pick the Cat Defender plan as it includes 3x/year core vaccines and 3x/year flea prevention; for puppies, the Dog Royal plan is ideal as it offers core vaccines, 3x/year tick & flea prevention, and 3x/year heartworm prevention*. 

*Please note that heartworm prevention is monthly or annually depending on the type of prevention method used.

Adult Pets:

1. Annual check-ups: Regular check-ups are crucial to catch potential health issues early.
2. Vaccination boosters: While adults don't need vaccinations as frequently as puppies/kittens, they do require annual boosters to maintain immunity.

For adult cats, the Cat Royal plan is recommended as it provides a balanced approached with annual core vaccines and 3x/year flea prevention.

For adult dogs weighing above 20kg, the Dog Clifford plan is tailored for them, ensuring extensive care suitable for larger breeds.

Senior Pets:

1. Regular health screenings: As pets age, they become more susceptible to certain health issues. Regular health screenings can help detect these problems early. 

For senior pets with limited outdoor activities, the Core plan is ideal as it caters to the essential wellness needs, and include a virtual 1 on 1 session with our vet specialist.
